EcoOutfitters’ Message in Times Square, NYC

It can’t get much brighter than this… we just received news that EcoOutfitters has been named a finalist in the Empire State Solar Generation Photo Contest! Check out our “Two Thumbs Up” image on the digital billboard in Times Square. Yes, the Times Square! The advertisement calls for state lawmakers to make New York a solar energy powerhouse by passing the New York Solar Jobs Act of 2011 (S.4178/A.5713) before the end of session this coming Monday.

According to the Vote Solar Initiative, contest entries hailed from across New York state, from Long Island (us!) to Lake George and back. Among those pictured: solar customers, businesses, and solar fans posing in front of panels, holding signs, and finding unique ways to highlight the solar potential of the city (and state) that never sleeps. Better yet, in addition to the photo contest, the grassroots campaign elicited more than 10,000 emails and 31,500 letters to lawmakers in support of the New York Solar Jobs Act.

From the Vote Solar Initiative website: “If Albany passes the New York Solar Jobs Act in time, we’ll all be winners! Voice your support in these final hours here. Or even better, make a quick call to Governor Cuomo’s office at (518) 474-8390 letting him know you support the New York Solar Jobs Act.”

Two thumbs up, indeed! We’ll keep you posted.

Through her work with the EcoOutfitters.net team, Raina found a way to help grow the solar industry in a significant way. As the founder and host of #SolarChat, a bi-monthly "gathering" on Twitter, Raina and her team have created an engaged solar think-tank community that comes together regularly for collaboration and networking with the ultimate goal in mind of spreading the solar message.
